Large felling saw

My days of climbing with a 30" bar are long gone, if i cant take it down in one then i will call you guys in. But we have a lot of over mature oak on the estate i work on and no large saw. Our other saws are stihl and I have always had stihl for my own saws but if the 066 has oiling probs then i might think again.

i run a 660 on a 25" + 36" bar regularly had no probs, great saw me thinks

395xp for me.I have a 660 also but the xp is a better saw

Always been a husky user but between the 395 and a 66 I'd take the Stihl every time.

we have the 660, no probs with oiling, but we do struggle to get the chain tight enough...

660 ! No oil problems. I have run a 36" bar all summer felling big elm and crosscutting it all.

 

Its a little nose heavy with the 36 but it runs well when cross cutting. Plenty of power. Great build quality. Shop around for the best deal.

64 Is a nice saw . Run ours on a 25" bar ported its a beast . Have an 88 but its hardly used . I could probably count on one hand the amount of times I have really needed the 88 this year .

If anyone is concerned about low oil output on the 660, let me know and i can give you part number for high output pump. Think they are about £35.

hmm is it easy to fit? does it improve it a lot?

My 660 had the same issues with chain adjustment and low oil delivery.

 

I changed the parts in the oil pump which cured it, but probably easier just to swap the whole pump.

 

The guy from Stihl sent me the bits foc after I broached the subject with him on their technical help stand at the AA trade fair.

 

Good service backup, but it sounds as though a few people have had the same problem.
