Any advice? Bathroom Floor

Hi All

Long time lurker, first time poster :-)

Keen to refinish floor in bathroom and not sure what my best course of action is. I've attached photos that show current condition. I'm debating between 1) simply applying a new coat of polyurethane, 2) a light sand then polyurethane or 3) sanding then applying danish oil.

What does everyone suggest? any thoughts much appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.

I reckon polyurethane without sanding is a waste of time, and sanding enough to completely strip the varnish so that you can successfully oil to fresh wood would be quite a big job and maybe difficult to get looking even colour right to the edge.

I'd go for option 2 and see how it goes. Only potential problem I can see is where the current varnish looks pale may be lifted, unless you remove the old layer then the new varnish will just sit on top and still look pale. May need more sanding than you think.

Hi yep lots of sanding ,total ball ache ,but when all sanding is done have a look at penny floor resin ,resin floors last for yrs and yrs totaly water proof but if you’re pipes run under the floor and you get a problem then big job ,something to think about

Good luck with it and do keep us informed

What have you to use for sanding? we used a Triplex floor sander with an ELU edging sander that was to make all uniform though then filled ran over it again before sealing

We went back over part of it again to sand some marks  out with my Metabo 150mm Random orbital sander Mate said that won't do it?
