Not in great detail but basically a total of 48 of us were at different times employed through an agency contracting us out etc. Told on numerous occasions yeah compliant not a problem all ok etc etc, key thing was if you didn’t go through the agency whom were the sole labour provider for the client we worked for basically you didn’t work, 4 years later HMRC come knocking saying you should have done X not Y  etc etc

give us the difference in tax and oh by the way let’s have a bit of interest. Zero comment from agency and contracts manager from said agency whom no longer works there ?‍♂️?‍♂️Fucking brilliant.
HMRC doing the standard thing and kicking the shit out the little guy.
Stick in a bit of lock down and no work and things all of a sudden are looking pretty grim.

All I’d say is, don’t be afraid to take the bastards on.

If they’ve sent you a demand, ask for it to be reviewed.

That’ll take a while and then depending on the outcome, seek a Tribunal.

Don’t think you have to bend over, make them work for it and you might get them bent over.

There might be interest on outstanding after it’s all done & dusted but the knowledge that they have had to pay out more than you end up giving them should off set that.

(I know it’s a false victory since they’re funded through the tax system but it’s a victory none the less)

Well fucked off to tell truth Kev

worst thing is we had no choice at all but to go down the route we did. Something HMRC are well aware of but just don’t seem to give a shit

Not altogether sure Andy as You know I’ve been dealing with this for a while now but they seem to be ramping up the pressure big time. To state the obvious the  timing could not be worse.

Feel for you pal, years ago I used to work through the agencies on building sites. Was working for one that I hadn't done before, 6 month later a letter arrived stating I was wanted for interview at Sheffield, enquired with agency why would HMRC want to interview me and they just gave me a load of rubbish, went for an intense 2hr interview, at the end the 2 guys stood up and wished me all the best. Turned out that the agency had not been paying tax, but because I had all my books in order along with pay slips stating that tax had been paid, I didn't have a case to answer, but they warned me to stay away from that agency, and gave me a few tips on what to look out in future. I was bloody relieved to get out of the building, I can tell you.
