How much for a level HiLux of well-seasoned hardwood in Mendip?

Then buy in the roundwood & process it yourself. Min £35.00 tonne + haulage + VAT + saw, fuel & oil, splitter or axe, sore shins & splinters under the fingernails, sawdust, bark & chip waste to clear up etc. Store until dry.

I don't know what a hilux holds; single or double cab. My Ranger holds 1.4m3 level. Threads on here over the past months suggest about £100.00 per M3 to be the going rate. So, £80.00 or £90.00 for a Hilux (single cab) load seems a good price.

Do you want them stacked in the shed at the bottom of the garden, via that alleyway where I can skin my knuckles sir? And yes, it would have been handy if you'd moved your car before I arrived, we did agree on 9.30 after all. Oh, had you intended to make room in the shed before I arrived? You don't have the money right now, O.K. I'll call back later when you've been to the cash machine at Tesco's. You forgot to mention that you wanted a sack of kindling? O.K. I'll bring it when I come back for the money. What's that, sorry I misheard you. Never mind, keep the sodding logs & phone someone else next time!

Get the wood insured it does not cost too much just in case of these reasons.

People laugh at me when i say my wood is insured but better save than sorry:thumbup1:

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking of doing it. If I could buy 5k of wood in feb and send it all out by august I could spend another 5k and send it out over the winter. But people wont part with cash until the last minute. So the theme this year will be no wood around hike the price up same as last year:thumbup1:

good seasoned h/w logs will now be at a premium,£90 a cubic yard is not too much for the work involved in my opinion, folk just don't understand the costs and investment while seasoning involved.

Why would people understand though??? We can't really expect them to understand when I'd say 99% of firewood processing is done in/on private ground and away from public eyes. All General Joe Public will see is a tree standing one day and a load of firewood delivered the next.

If my customers are quite interested in where their wood comes from and how i cut it etc, its worth taking time to explain it and they'll soon realise £80 a pick a load is good value.

Im down in cornwall and if you tried to charge 80 quid for a small load of wood like your saying you'd end up with a smack in the mouth.

I have been on holiday to Cornwall does not suprise me. I think if you try to smack some of the arborist on here in the mouth you could be in for a surprise. Most cabstars take about 2cu meters which should be £145 - £160

A hilux 1.4 cu meters ish £120 If people are too tight to pay it let them sit in the cold and count their money. I think you need £80 a cu + to make a living even in Cornwall.

I agree entirely! Not blaming them for not knowing what is involved.
