Monkey Puzzle tree

We have a very large (c 60ft high) Monkey Puzzle tree which has died and will be felled at the end of March 2020.  It would be a real shame for the wood to go to waste.  Has anyone recently sold the timber of a Monkey Puzzle tree and knows the going rate please?  Please let me know if you are interested in buying the timber - either in pieces for turning or milled - or know someone that might be!  We live in Milton Keynes.

Don't hold your breath, even for a big tree like that. Finding a market for one-off trunks is difficult at the best of times, economies of scale and all that. Also, monkey puzzle is full of sticky resin, so it's not the most pleasant to process and handle.

I'm near Mitton Keynes and may be interested in buying the trunk. Providing I can get my trailer near it for loading.

What sort of price do you want for it?

What sort of diameter is it?

Hi Muttley ,take some good gloves those spikey bits that stick out are way sharp we moved one last summer and got loads of tiny cuts from it the bark itself is quite sharp ,and it’s bloody heavy, but the boards I have milled are ace and it’s very stable ,the resin that pours out of it is sticky as fuck and the bees love it , I am defo glad I went through all the ball ache to get it don’t know if it’s worth much nobody wanted to buy any but hey I will just make stuff from it .Good luck with it and do post some pictures.

Cheers Mark

Thanks very much  - I have sent you a message. The diameter is rough 90cm.
