Market for large pine log?

Hi,

 

We are currently harvesting a block of large radiata pine and there is some good log material. The majority of it is 30+.

 

We are looking for additional markets for the larger logs, we have started cutting 16' and 8' but can chsnge the spec if required. Roughly 100 tons. Based in SW, can be put on a flat.

Have a google and find out if it will take treatment on ? its not a spieces i have delt with before and some dont take treatment well, it may do it may not, if it will take treatment all well and good but if it dont its either chip of firewood,

Pinus radiata readily takes preservative treatments but in my opinion that amount of large trees should be used for cutting into joinery timber.

 

try getting in contact with big sawmills who cut joinery wood...

Sticky old stuff like that was/is used for Bee Boxes as its quite rot resistant .

 

You can also use it for cladding in the same way untreated larch is used.

It is surprisingly durable when the Trees are old.The sap content is really high,I have seen plenty of Houses clad in it and logged old growth for two years in a Hauler (Yarder) crew.
