rope and technique id

Hi,need help to identify this rope is 12mm and the guy who gave it to me said it doesnt melt and the best splicing method,is this a double braid?

It looks like Ocean Polyester, but I didn't think they made bigger than 10mm diameter? Could be wrong, mind, I often am.

 

@Tommy_B would know the best splice if it is.

It's 10mm Ocean polyester. Splices fine as far as I'm aware, but probably wouldn't bother doing so with what looks like a used bit of second hand hitch cord...

It's better than some for not melting, but it definitely does melt...

Class 1 Double braid for that @naturarbo

 

Like @Mark Bolam said, they dont make it bigger than 10mm so if iits 12mm, it might be used? If it is, I'd probably give it a miss if you're new to splicing

Won’t be able to now mark with 3 ropes in a tree... but for the record I have melted ocean polyester.
Armour Prus is almost unglaze able in comparison.

No, I wouldn't splice it new let alone when used.

 

Yes, it does melt.

After all this great input here is the result...friction hitch with used ocean polyester 10mm??? and the beggining of my pulley/cambium saver
