Iveco 18 tonner cooling system being weird

Cooling system on my lorry was being weird today. All was fine, then blower started blowing out cold air, temperature gauge climbed right up, then dropped back to about 50, then started warming up back to 85ish, and blower blew out warm air again.

It did this a few times today, but not always with the temperature gauge right up. Cooling system is just standard radiator, header tank, thermostat and water pump.

Any ideas what is failing?

Cheers

Al

looks as though Al has found a fix for this from what i have seen on Facebook marketplace.

Leaky pipe letting air in. Tightened jubilee and bled system, all good.

It’s up for sale because I’ve found the same thing in a 26t version that’s coming on the market soon [emoji1360]

£8500 + vat if anyone is interested, complete with grab and 2 bodies. Big chip bin and a flat bed with bolsters and 5t tie down rings.

Any pics/details of age/mileage/payload etc?
