Good idea. The electric pruners are very good. I just don't like having to do thousands of cuts with them and would rather have a hedge cutter that did the job faster.

for cutting back hard I use single sided HS86R (now HS87R), will cut about an inch thick bay, cherry laurel, griselinia, privet etc, but not inch thick hawthorn, beech etc

Looks good, but tooth spacing is 38mm, same as the 82, so don’t know how much better it would be.

that's true and a fair point. though 38mm is close to an inch and a half so I reckon that might be just what I need. So probably both of those hedge trimmers would be beneficial to my hedge cutting debacle. 😀

the review on them doesn't sound too good though. I get the feeling they might be a bit flimsy for thicker wood based on what the guy said in his review. Probably fine for trimming, but probably not cutting back hard me thinks. Though that is just a guess. 👍

You’re right I reckon, it would probably be very niche.

There’s clearing the crap you’re cutting down to think about as well.

 

I’ll probably just carry on pricing these jobs high and hope I don’t get them!
