Hi,

I did my 31 recently and asked the same question. I think the new ones come into effect on 1st Jan, so if your mate is doing his assessments after then the chances are it may be the new schedules he will be assessed on. The old ones are valid until 31st Dec 2009 I think. I did my assessment in mid-Nov and was assessed on the old schedule.

I could be wrong though - the experts may say something different:001_smile:

Changes are to kick in from 1st January. If you are registered with NPTC for an assessment before 1st January you will be assessed to old criteria, after 1st then new critiria. You have up to 2 yrs to take the assessment that you are registered for.

So if you know the old criteria, get your registrations in now!

Hope that helps.

probably the wrong place to put this but i can not be bothered to start a new thread, I did my CS30 -31 in 2001 then got the rest of my tickets when i started treework after 2007. Recently a company i occasionally work for has told me i have to re sit my 30-31 because they are way out of date and without 30-31 most of my other tickets are invalid as 30-31 is a pre-requisite??

I was told i have to do it or i am unable to do the council contracts as they insist on up to date tickets.

thats crap, i past all my tickets back in 1999/2000 and am doing local authority contracts, never had a problem, i imagine like most folk on here, they have done theirs years ago and do plenty of contract work for the local authorities, i think you'l find they are just being too fussy

they want people that have the relevant tickets but if youve recently passed them then you aint gona av a great deal of experience!!

perhaps they would like ya blood as well

Marc, If its the CS 30 and CS 31 you hold then you do not need to be re-assessed, even if done in 2001. If this was the case then you would not have been able to be registered for the other units, like the CS41.

They are probably batting on the '5 year update' door. ?? All this is, is a 1 day update training day to cover changes since 2001 and issued a certificate.

cheers, Jo

ok guys! the deal is youve got your tickets 4 life, its highly reccommended to take a refresher course every 5 years for each ticket, to prove uv not desended into muppetry. it is a hse guidance so when the doggy-doos hits the fan and the hse are called in to investigate they will want to see evidence of refresher training. its basically a paper chase! ive done several, but only wiv big firms who are trying to cover their own a**e, they can blame you when it goes wrong! having said that, ive had three strimmer updates wivout actually doin the main course!!!

When I became an approved contractor for a local council in 2004, I sent in a copy of my 1996 20,21 and 22 NPTC certificate.

They rang me saying they were a little concerned at the age of my cert, I told them if they were looking for an inexperienced cutter I was not the man for them.

Fortunately the person I was speaking to got my point immediately and I heard no more about it.

Since then I have won and completed 90% of the work they put out to tender.
