Uniform

Evening chaps, how do we feel about staff uniforms. Both self employed subs (I understand the implications) and staff members. This includes hairstyles, tattoos, piercings. Any issues? Don't care, let the work do the talking? Or like everyone uniformed up, smart and professional looking?

I sub into a few firms and wear their shirts and jackets, I think it looks more professional. Hairstyles, tattoos and piercings are all part of folk, I wouldn't worry about those things.

Image is everything, particularly if you are trying to portray a professional image and earn the money associated with that.

Hairstyles, tattooes, piercings etc....well theres limits isn't there. I doubt most of your customers would want this guy in their garden

I guess there are limits, if you are a big established firm blokes like that don't make any difference. I used to work with a ganger who was covered in tattoos like that, he knew the job inside out and ran the job properly, he looked a nasty piece of work but got the job done, (this was motorway work) Mrs Miggins on the other hand...

I think ‘uniform’ is a bit strong, as we all have different tastes in trousers and boots.

All wearing the same tops does portray a professional image though, and I’m all for it.

Good tops, not crappy cheap polos and sweats.

Doesn’t even have to be logo’d.

We often turn up in the same Rab gear, or similar.

Avoiding looking like tramps is not a good move when you like charging pro prices.

A few shirts at 15 quid a pop soon puts a few quid on the job.
