Never made one but my approach would be use a very stable wood and trust resin to do the waterproofing. Instability would cause the resin to have faults and allow water ingress into the wood.

Mark any chance of some pictures of those pear boards or would rather not part with them ?

Hi Steve , what timber would you recommend for a sink ,I would like to use something like  false acacia if I can find a big enough bit ,do you have anything suitable that you would be willing to part with .

i do have a large bit of catalpa that i've been holding on to for years for just such a purpose.

i'm going down to the container today so i'll see if there are any other large roughed out bowls that would do the job too. i know there are a couple of large walnut suckers down there but i'm not sure if they are right for the job?

not sure there is a recommended timber as i've seen them made out of allsorts over the years.

as long as the wood is watertight it should not be a problem what you use...

Oh sorry mate totally forgot will get it done later today, how much do you want

Not a problem. This is what size the customer thinks we need for the finished sizes but I think they may have got there H and Ws the wrong way around  haha. As you can see it's not much but it needs to be as clean a s whistle"

16 pieces.
180mm H x 112mm W [outside edge] x 18mm timber."
