Emergency Lime pollard

This Lime was amongst 20 or so on my list to deadwood this past week or so......midday yesterday my groundsman noticed this split in the rear stem.

Amazingly when we went round to see the neighboring house to tell them about the split they told us they knew about it....they hadn't thought to report it to the tree owner, despite the garden being full of childrens play equipment....couldn't believe it!

We bound the trunk with 3 lorry straps and kept our fingers crossed that it would hold till today when we had a mewp available......would have been a nightmare to try and climb as there were no safe rigging points

Difficult to make a judgement from just a few shots, but who on here would consider a climb dismantle on this one ?

Joe Public should all be sent on common sense courses.

Why would even the most fool hardy not see that as a seriously potential Hazard.

Interesting Post Steve.
