when im on these jobs im in my eliment controled , happy , excited and up for the challenge.

ifeel that this is what i was born to do.... big trees

some would say i should have been a monkey because im only happy when im up high (not on drugs before you say it).

my point is that as soon as the last cut is done thats it my natural high is gone and i want to go home.

does anyone else feel this ?

my diary is full with loads of little jobs but nothing BIG ....HELP

wait till your 40+ yuoll be the other way round:lol:

Well I am 38 next June, and I can tell you now i LOATHE the small stuff and always did, nice to have it as an option but give me a big take down that needs at least a 64 at thirty plus feet. or a fine tipping reduction that you can really put some effort into and do "something special" with. I Know where your coming from fella, its "big wood" blood you got, good man, proper arbor

I have had a desire to go to calfornia since reading "the wild trees" by richard preston, is anyone else feeling the pull of a little sillet esque escapades! if so i would like to know, as it will require at least two to three guys to do it properly. this is the arborists crowning glory, the most extreme and awsome thing I suspect i will ever do while still in a climbing career, who would be up for it?

mmm maybe for my 40th birthday, as my "last ascent"

I love doing the biguns, but I reckon its the fact that they don't come up all the time that makes them special. I,d get bored of them too I'm sure. This week we've taken down 2 decent sized beches and a big fir but today we reduced a birch and took out some dwarf conifers and another small job. Today I made £700 and it was a piece of ****, the weather was great and I had one of those Ahh I love my job days.

I do get itchy if no biguns come up for a while though, you need the fix.:001_smile:

it depends what your motivation is, you guys are obviously still up for the challenge, the buzz and the glory. Good stuff, hold onto that as long as you can, my motivation now is being at home with my family, so a list of wee hit and run 10 foot conies and a hedge, money up front ticks my boxes. less is more for me, before i would fall into bed exausted and acheing, then crawl back into my balistics and head off before my head seemed to have hit the pillow. but now i keep my energy for playing with my kids and doing stuff for my family as a whole, you cant buy energy or new body parts so look after yourself and dont miss out on the little things too much, what you have to do is pick your motivation for the day, if it is a week of crap jobs, then tell yourself by the end of the week you can afford a new bit of kit, like this week i got a spiderjack, i have been doing firewood all week and deliveries, but when i came home today and saw i had a parcel from jonesie my spirirts lifted, so My eldest boy gave me a hand and we opened it up and he was playing with it in th eliving room, pretending to cut down trees, it was excellent, now i am looking forward to next week playing with it. Focus on the good things and that will get you through the boring stuff, and at least you have work, plenty out there dont.
