I disagree!

If I wanted sharp I'd use an axe. I like my maul blunt. More lateral power for splitting.

If you don't know what I mean I can't be arsed to explain....

I think you're missing the point, the sharpened demolition maul has a sharp edge to get into the wood instead of bouncing off, and it gets fat very quickly to split the wood like a wedge. Similar to the Gransfors splitting maul, but a lot cheaper;

I really like the look of this one: The Woodsmith's Store: Gransfors Bruks Spliting Maul - Green Woodworking Tools - Green Woodworking Accessories

The problem I have with my tenner one from Mole Valley is that the top of the shaft, next to the wedge, splinters continuously, even though I keep wrapping loads of duct tape round it. I don't miss the wood, but it splinters anyway. I can't figure it. SO that metal bit just where the shaft gets split looks perfect for me.

With you now, I just don't like it getting wedged in an unsplit log?

Wow, that looks amazing! How much? (I'm preparing to look away!)

No, that's the nice Gransfors, mine is much cheaper, nastier, heavier and rustier.
