remote control helicopter

My 4 year old has been pestering for a remote control helicopter for the best part of a year now. As christmas is coming up I am thinking of getting him one although I still have reservations about it as I know that they can be difficult to control at that age. Does anybody know of one that would be suitable for his age group? Doesnt have to be anything too flash or complicated......he would be over the moon just to have a helicopter to fly.

Thanks in advance

Look on play.com mate, Just search helicopter, we got one for my mrs little boy last Xmas, he was 5 and half then and he did manage to get it going after a quite a few pratice goes, The one we got had like a landing pad thing and a toy tank with it too, Obviously aimed at kids, It was quite tuff too, lasted a while!!

Only know about the £70ish ones: avoid Carson - go for Ripmax. Although they have the same lexan exterior fuselage the innerds are very different in quality and r/c performance.

Oh and great to see he doesn't get what he wants the moment he sets eyes on it. Pestering for a year - excellent, teaches focus, singlemindedness and patience. Refreshing.

I'd just go for one of the little £20 polystyrene ones. PicooZ Micro R/C Helicopter : Toys & Games : Maplin

Theres loads around in all the little gadgets shops that pop up this time of year.

I got one for my brother last christmas and it was great, and he's 32! They're easy to control, pretty hard to break, and its not much money when the novelty wears off in a week.

My Mrs got me one of the big 3-channel ones and they are pretty hard to fly and you need a BIG room because thet dont like being used outside. I watched mine dissappear over my fence and across a field on a very calm day!
