MS250 won't start

Hi folks,

Having a look at a chainsaw for a mate.

They had it stored upside down and afterwards couldn't start it. They changed the spark plug and let the cylinder dry out as it was flooded.

Still won't start, it seems to flood very quickly also.

It's just had a fresh carburettor and has the same symptoms.

Fresh fuel doesn't change anything.

It does have a spark.

Anywhere else I can be looking?

Thanks

You'd need to let the crank case dry out as well, as it might be full of excess fuel.  Pull it over a few times without plug in, and make sure it's switched off while you do it. (Fire risk).

Possible that if it was really flooded it could have kicked and sheared the flywheel key, pretty common on the smaller saws, though they normally spin the flywheel loose at the same time.

If it's flooding while standing still, then that needs sorting before anything else.

Cheers flywheel key has sheared. Hadn't thought to check that as it's never happened to me before. Something to add to the list of experience!

So make sure you fix the flooding issue, or it'll do it again. ;)

Could the " flooding issue " be down to pulling over continuously filling it with fuel and it not firing as the timing it out due to the sheared key ?
