That happened to me once, ever since then I do a written quote and the customer has to sign it before any work goes ahead.

If they dont sign, the job doesnt get done. If I have to do extra work on the job I negotiate a new price and the customer has to sign again or I dont do the extra work.

Sometimes they look at me funny, I just tell them I'm running a business not a pawn shop.

Take the pillock to court.

I bet he had a right stash inside his commode :banghead:

It's like the, "I'm only a pensioner"

Next day you see them pulling the Merc out the garage

no point taking anybody to court without a written quote.

I did take a blind pensioner to court once, but he was a nasty sort, worth millions, and I'd given him a written quote. He tried to say that because we did the job so quick, he was'nt going to pay me what I aksed. I'd quoted him £600 to reduce two beech, fell 1 lombardy poplar (60ft) and take 3 large lombardy stumps alap.

We were done and chipped up by 2 o clock. He offered me £200. I refused, so he refused to pay me.

So I took him to small claims, he tried to tell the judge We'd threatened him, but the judge said he did'nt believe him, and ordered him to pay in full. Silly old git got up and started shouting abuse at the judge, so he was ejected from the courthouse:laugh:

Still had to send the ballifs in to get the money, ended up costing him about £1200 in total.
