Anyone recommend a hoover for the fireplace?

As title suggests really, have been using an old vax that we used to use for the cars etc but its getting tired and obviously isn’t really fit for purpose. Any one use or rate any specific types, brands etc?

A henry is as good as anything as all the plumbers use them for servicing boilers.

Cant recommend a " Hoover "  but as a vacuum cleaner , as said above , a Henry . Its what I use for that kind of thing .

We just got a “Shark” my in-laws got it as a present as we both have allergies and every vac we’ve ever had has been crap including Dysons and Henry’s . I’m not the type to get excited about a vacuum cleaner but this thing is a beast and it’s got all the attachments and configurations. (Just realised how sad I’ve got in my old age, raving about a vac[emoji20])
Not sure if it’s what you had in mind.
Maybe a bit like using a brand new Valtra for scraping the cowsheds out.

Obviously the worst things you can put up a “vacuum” are, ash/soot, building dust/sawdust so just want something that can manage it all and not break prematurely, dont mind cleaning filters out if thats what it needs. [emoji106]

You mean a vacuum cleaner ? as opposed to a tumble dryer or the ex head of the FBI  ?

No-one has yet mentioned the Ash Wizard.  This is not a vacuum cleaner at all but you use it with a vacuum cleaner, and it collects the ash (allegedly) so saving the cleaner from clogging

 

.  I was given one years ago and thought it looked like a right faff so I gave it away and stuck to a brush.  If fine ash gets in the vacuum cleaner I guess it will clog filters and bags very quickly, so I tend to think an old fashioned zero emissions brush is best really!

I had one of those and yes , it is a faff . Just use the can/drum to shovel the ash into now .
