I was just wondering how much a newly qualified climber could expect to earn a year. I am new to the ARB world after completeing 8 years in the RAF. I am worked part time at the mo as a Climber/groundy and have been put in a supervisory role a few times. Any light you could shed would be a great help. Thanks JB.

New climbers get poop wages only once you gain experiance and competance which are only gained through years a doing the job.

 

Then you can get better wages.

 

But i think a good starting wage is £75-80 a day since new climbers wont climb every day mostly groundie work to start.

 

Once your good or at least you can do the more demanding tree work anything from £100-150 a day are possible but im sure its different in other areas.

it does depend on where you are the country for the wage you get along with experience, ive been doing this job for 11 years now and my present firms wages are gash

I spent 7 1/2 years in the RAF.

Left 3 months ago and i'm now working for a utility company.

I'm on £7.90 an hour which is a start for someone with no experience.

However my overtime rate is paid by units cut so that really bumps my wage up!

Was working on a wee job last summer where I was

earning up to £200 per day, would of been more if i didnt stop at 2pm each day to go to pub!. Its on again this summer, its only for a couple of months though.

If I manage to stay away from the pub hopefully it will be about £250 per day.
