Where in Scotland Scott? The TOs on the east coast all seem very reasonable and would allow that to be dealt with if you email photos.

Ahhhh, I've just noticed I said there is 'not' a dead exception. My brain told my fingers to type 'now' and it somehow came out as 'not'. Sorry for the confusion. There is of course a 'dead' exception in England.

Just not clear from any written info what can and can’t be done.

Just as a matter of professional interest, did the Council ask for replacement planting?

No replacement was mentioned, so I asked the owner and he also said no.
It wasn’t a specific TPO on one tree, it was an old country house with wooded grounds that now has 2 new streets built in the grounds. The whole area is covered by a TPO.
