Hydraulic tipper not working

Can anyone help me with a method of fault finding for my hydraulic ram tipper.? Not sure where to start. 

It hasn't been used for 3 weeks, but was working fine. Don't know the make, it's operated remotely, light comes on the remote control and there is a clicking noise when pressed, but that is it. No movement of the ram at all. Can't check reservoir for fluid level, but was ok 3 weeks ago, and no evidence of a leak. Don't  want to just start taking it apart, I'm sure there must be a correct method of doing things,

Have you tried by-passing the solenoid ?

No. I've just seen that on YouTube. That seems like a good place to start. Thanks. You just disconnect it?

Mitsubishi L200. My mate suggested tapping the motor with a hammer (as you would a starter motor) and that has worked. Don't want to be doing that all the time tho, just hoping it happened because it's not been used for a few weeks whilst I've been on hols

Short across the 2 large solenoid terminals using an old screwdriver or similar. If motor works check that the small wire connected to solenoid becomes live when someone operates the tipper switch - just use a 12v bulb inline for this. (Earth bulb and small wire to bulb). If bulb lights I would strip solenoid.

All sorted. (For now, anyway). Thanks for all the replies. I tapped the motor with a hammer, and it's working now. My type of mechanics. Pick a suitable hammer and hit it!

My mate is a game keeper and his tool box has a hammer , a roll of duct tape and a can of WD40 . Never needed anything else .?

He must have done the same engineering course I did.
