We’ve not had any problems with 560s was just the 550s, 2 cranks on the same day (saws about 5 months age difference both used continuously f felling 60/70year old trees)
Husqvarna were very good n were still compensating our dealer for continuing problems 3years later!
Sounds like your dealer doesn’t want to put the time in hassling them?

I do think that as well, maybe if I ran 20 saws it would be different.    We are currently talking direct to Husky via Twitter,  if that fails maybe I should take it to the Arb show !!.

Alycidon - happened to me, is why I won't buy Husqys anymore, was suprised at the 33:1 comment, never got told that , used red synth oil on everything . K

My dealer did not even know that when I bought the saw.  After a large row and the threat of court action Husky rebuilt the engine, that was after 2 weeks of use.      Now 4 years and about 250 service hours later the engine is again scrap even though it has only had the Husky synthetic 2 stroke mix at the recommended dose rate on their can.   Thats 2% (1.50) using the Husky oil, page 18 here:

Hope I've not picked this up wrong but I by thought it was common knowledge that unless you are using the Husky XP oil you had to go to a 33:1 mix rather than a 50:1 for all the 5 series Husky saws.

I don't use Husqvarna oil, I use Red Line racing at 50:1 mixed with Aspen 4. Having said that I don't think you can get better oil than RedLine . Just me . ( and TCD )

Have read through these posts and have a quick question, if the saw was used on an irregular basis was the fuel drained after use and fresh fuel used on the next bout of cutting ?

Would like to know where the 33.1 advice was originaly found ?

Fuel is only drained after end of season use,  so around the end of Sept,   then re filled March time with fresh fuel.   It is then left with fuel in it between uses.  These can be next day or in two months,   I use it to cut down over sized pop ready for billeting and to cut up wind blown branches and occasional trees on the farm.

I cannot though see how a fuel issue can cause poor delayed hot start ( after a 2 min stop for fuel it was fine) and cause the crankcase to develop a pin hole or maybe 2.   My dealer said the pinhole (s) had caused the engine to run lean, that in turn had damaged the piston.   I would have thought this is an out and out manufacturing issue but of course the saw is out of warranty.

Ok, how did it come to have pin holes in the crankcase, did you ever get an answer ? I would suspect from what has been said and from ,I think a good assesment by spud, that something started to break up in the bottom end which caused the holes then the ultimate end of the saw ! The reason I ask about the fuel is that fuel left in a saw for a reasonable time will "go off" and will start to break down so when you start up next time you may be in effect starting up with a substance almost like un mixed fuel so at the most important time you are causing wear before the new mix travels around the system, I know you will most likley used the primer but the "bad " stuff is still in there doing damage !

It is well known the problems early 550/560 suffered and indeed talking to any dealers I frequent it was not helped by "cheap" oil and when lads started to use fully synth oil it helped a great deal.

About four maybe five years ago I noticed in the Husqvarna catalouge that XP oil should be "used in all saws above 55cc" in my owners book for the 572 it states that XP or an equal quality oil should be used.

My main point is "we" don't seem to know why it happened which in my book is more important than giving out about it ? I'm on my 4th 550, 2 had to be rebuilt- 2nd 560 , 1 rebuilt twice all at Husqvarnas cost with out any problem and all pre 2014 so I come from a position of having been there and done that and bought several teeshirts !!
