Rayco drive problems and finger teeth coming lose

Hi guys got a rg25hd, couple of issues with it firstly the drive forwards is very poor, very slow and no power. Going backwards it goes fast but has no power so means pulling up trailer ramps at tyre same time etc. Is that normal? What sort of incline should they be able to cope with?

Secondly I’ve had quite a few teeth come loose, not sure if it’s from the same pocket but I suspect so. Is this a common problem from finger teeth?

If it isn't driving well, I would suspect that a spool isn't lining up and full oil flow isn't being achieved. Check the valve end caps and lever movement to check what is happening there. If the fingers are coming loose, run a grinder over the bed surface of the holder so that you are clamping down on the bar and not to the wheel.

I've got an rg20 that I havn't put up for sale yet. Drive was rip out of your hands good if on full throttle and it has a multi tip wheel on that I found alot better than finger teeth. I'm only assuming that the engine on yours is more powerful hence the rg25. My engine has gone and that is why I'm selling.

The drive is just through a cable so not as fancy as what that sounds like Pete. Maybe just needs some adjustment somehow.

Regarding the teeth, would it be worth upgrading to green teeth if I have to replace the pockets anyway?

Jim, I’ve sent you a message thanks

Mine is doing the same thing, except its fine in the morning when its cold, drives up the back of a transit on ramps no problem, when its been working has trouble getting over a mound of chips. Drive belt is tight so guessing its the drive itself so oil and filter change maybe? anyone got a clue about what oil or where the filter is?

Mine won’t even drive up ramps to my trailer backwards or forwards and that’s only about 2 feet high the ramps are six feet long!! Need some sort of diagram for the drive I think. My belt does slip occasionally but not as much as the thing struggles to move!
