Run a Same Dorado 86 which I got from Bowden’s and sons in Bovey. Silver 90 is larger tractor. The only problem I have with them as loader tractors is they’re a little light on the backend- certainly the Dorado is.

everyone I know running Sames round here (and there are a lot of them) are happy with them.

Cracking round the front wheel bolts can be an issue with them as loader tractors. Is it just loader work your doing on is there any other applications for it?

Is 100hp enough when fitted with a loader? Takes a bit off puff out the tractor does a heavy loader esp for road work

More than enough hp for a loader tractor. My 86hp will chug around with 8-10 ton behind it so a ton of loader won’t make much difference.

Loader tractors can be a bit bouncy on the roads though- generally 6 cylinders are nicer- the longer wheelbase seems to iron out the bouncyness a bit.

Older model Same were prone to bell housing cracking when doing heavy loader work

Hadn't heard of the older ones doing that but there was a local same dealer who way overspecified the loader size on some new tractors hence there were several early durado's that snapped the bell housings.
They weren't Same dealers for too long.

We have had several Same's over the years, I still own a 90 Explorer 2 which has nearly 10k hours on it, mechanically they are excellent tractors imo, it has never had any major issues and it had quite a hard life for several years running a fairly big stone burrier, however they seam to suffer to rusting body panels and door bottoms badly, but the later ones have quite a few plastic bits on and I believe all glass doors, check all the linkages on the back end for wear, especially the lower shaft that goes through the rear casting.
One problem I have with them is they are really noisy in the cab, especially gearbox whine.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another though.

Thx for all the replies, a bit of topping and fert spreading, nothing too strenuous. The other option I was looking at was a Case 895xl, less hours but a bit more than I want to spend.
