I have been advised to post on here by one of your members with regards to a large yew tree we are having taken down.

It is over 4m in circumference and the main trunk is 2m high.

If anyone would like the wood, please get in touch.

Thanks

I'd be interested to know how old it is if you can get a good section through it. Good for bows if long enough. I'll post this on BCUK to see if you get any more replies

In my experience a tree like that you can never tell until it is down how many stems it really is.  There will almost certainly be major bark inclusions and the like.  Difficult to value until it is down and in sections I would suggest.  I am sure there will be some good timber there, but maybe nothing as wide as one would hope.

Thanks for your responses.

It does appear to be one large stem but as Squaredy mentioned we wont know for sure until it is cut down.  It should be coming down next week so let me know if you are interested.

Thanks
