i'd be thinking about ditching the ocean polyester if I were you.  Theres loads of better options for cord out there.  I never could understand the hype over the stuff.  It was well marketed and thats about it
I like it, seems to last much better than others, don't seem to have problems with it gripping

Was reading the information on Petzl's website about caring for static and semi-static ropes. It says to soak a new rope in water for 24 hours before use to remove manufacturing lubricants and shrink the mantle onto the core better. So I've given this a go with my tachyon and Ocean Polyester Sling as they're very new. Already you can feel a definite greasiness to the water!! Seems like there's quite a bit of that lubricant in the rope! I wonder if that has something to do with this new setup not gripping like the more seasoned ropes and hitches I use at work?!

Try playing with the wraps and braids and if you can’t get anything to work try crossing over the legs on the cord and after the braids before they go back to in the hitch climber Krab.
Never got on with ocean my self though , armour Pruss is by far the best cord out there , grips every time and won’t burn out.
