Can you not just say that the splice is fit for purpose? Like if you purchase a non CE marked harness from the USA you can still use it because it's fit for purpose.

 

no you cant

and no you cant bring a harness back or buy one in this country thats not CE marked

 

also a loler guy cannot fail a rope due to it,s splice

only advise it does not meet CE standard but it,s basically the same

Yes you can bring one back and use it without a CE mark you just cannot sell one without a CE mark:sneaky2:

My understanding of CE marking is that it is about "placing on the market"

I do know that I can build a canal boat and use it without a CE compliance

file,but I cannot sell it on within 5 years.:001_smile:

 

I suspect that Carls take on CE marking is correct,getting the paperwork

ticked off is another can of worms:sneaky2:

i've spoke to a few spliced rope suppliers on splicing but i beleieve it's up to them to state how their business operates.

 

I'm under the impression that most come factory spliced in set lengths, hence most folks sell rope in 35 / 45m lengths
