Haven't watched the video, but I've run nothing but knockoff batteries from 3-9ah for five years now and had no problems so long as you don't buy the cheapest of the cheap. Currently have 6x6ah and 2x9AH (for the ginders)

'Waitley' seem to be decent- they're the ones with the little voltmeter on them.

Good to know! I have a floreun knockoff Bosch battery and it definately has less  grunt than then proper Bosch ones. And I think with a chainsaw it wants all the help it can get. Plus you can drain the battery in a short time so decent cells have to be worth it. I'll take a look at the link. Thanks

Spoke the waitley seller on Ebay asking about high power output makita tools, they said I'd be better off buying OEM, they said theirs are good but properly not good enough to withstand high drain things like chainsaws. Appreciate their honesty!

I'm surprised they didn't reply in Chinese! To be fair I use them all the time in the battery grinders for heavy fabrication work, but it's so long since I used a genuine battery I don't know how they'd compare.

Those waitley ones look decent. I asked if they would except a return if they had noticeably less oomph than the makita ones and they told me to get an original and not to buy theirs. Shame as I was quite up for buying them as you can get 2x6ah ones for just over 60quid which is pretty much the cost of one makita 5ah one

How have you found the 9amps in the grinder? Do they last OK, in use and overall lifespan? Thanks

Yes, they're decent. Take a lot longer to charge too- definately extra capacity in them. They are noticeably bigger and heavier though.

The genuine Makita battery chargers keep trying to restart the charging cycle on them, or gives up with an error. The voltage usually shows it as charged however. I've just unpacked a new Chinky twin battery charger, so will see if that makes a better job of them- they're on charge as i write this after some heavy fab work this afternoon.
