Recommended skidding winches

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of pimping my new ride (Logbullet mini forwarder) and I have the option of a hydraulic motor driving a PTO driven winch. I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea to have, as it would be demountable, only weigh a couple hundred kilos when on and would give me the full range of timber extraction options.

So, which winch would you recommend? Would need to pull about 3t, weigh less than 200kg and be reasonably priced.

Thanks in advance.

I like the look of the rabaud  tirmax 4t chain winch, already hydraulic, apparently consistent 4ton pull, no cable tangles. Not used one, maybe someone here has?. 280kg and the blade is detachable, might need some different redirect pulleys/rollers. Saying that my uniforest 35m does the job and for a lot less££

When I first bought the 5 tonne Krpan, I opted for the basic rope operated model.

As soon as I had yoked it to the tractor, and tried to figure out where to store the operating cords, and realizing how likely they were to get snagged on branches and brash, I accepted my mistake and changed it for the Electro Hydraulic model, which decision I do not regret.

And

Currently looking at a Elca remote control unit, and wishing I had the hydraulic outfeed option as well.

sigh
