Course not - with yr setup, but it's been making me think a lot abt them of late. Some good but eco-sensitive sites near me that any tractor operation would foul, so am looking into a road tow setup.  K

There is certainly an environmental angle to skylining as no ground impact. I don't much like winching anyway, and skylining just seems like a lot of hassle!

Yr bang on with the hassle. It has got to be quick to erect an move. The US Forestry (1974!) manual on them has masses of stuff on site selection and economic Yarding distances. I have a lot of hard sums to do ? k

Well if you get yourself set up with a skyline, get yourself down here and I'll have work for you.

That will be very tempting J. Yr stands are bigger down there. Round here I was looking at eco sensitive sites requiring invasive species removal. But yrs sounds better ? k

The company I represent run a T winch along with harvesters/forwarders, and are always looking for steep site harvesting.

We will be taking delivery of a low impact harvester/forwarder combo in the next 10 days. This is a tracked machine that could also be operated in conjunction with the T winch.

Snot a digger, its a Log Bullet cheeky

And you're off!

Doesn't look like a desperately easy site to get started with!
