SRT HSE question

As an Employee are you aloud to climb single line for the company that you work for and I don't mean just for access, cutting  as well.

i've heard of plenty companies not allowing their staff to use SRT, some of them councils.  Not sure on the legal standing though.  Have you been told you can't then?

Have been asked not to climb single line on all of there sites which as I'm sure you'll agree is rather irritating! 

From what  I hear there is no certified qual for it so using it on site will not be covered under insurance.

very interested to hear from any one else in the same situation as I'm sure this has surprised a few people, as it did me!

I would say as you 'qualified ' under NPTC or Lantra - you climbed on the 'prussic ' and 'loop' so that is all yr allowed to use until they upgrade the assessment ( obvs I completedly ignored that .... )

 

Although , if it is a 'safe system' of ' work positioning '  ( all equipment CE and load rated ) then really I cannot see the problem ! K

What does it say in the generic and site specific RAs? How you access a tree is not coved by statute, but you're going to have to give a good reason why you decide to go against industry best practice.
