I wouldn't be able to advise on that tbh, My 110 had just one hd battery, whilst winching at night with headlights/worklights on the headlights would dim due to increase load, but never had any issues or bonfires in the dashboard. Wire direct to batteries if you can, as earthing the winch on the chassis can throw up a few problems sometimes.

How come the Winchmax winches are so cheap compared to the Superwinch Talon? Can you get winch rope instead of steel cable on the Winchmax winches?

Yes if you look On the link and then follow that to the item description it links to the website with more details and at the bottom of the page there is a similar/same winch with rope rather than wire

I have superwinch talon 12.5 with synthetic rope on a heavy loaded defender 130 (about 3tonne with all arb equipment in it) I often get stuck witch a loaded ifor trailer behind it and my winch has never let me down, it always pulled te whole thing out. The defender is equipped with two deep cycle batteries and I'm able to use the battery on the tipping trailer as an extra powersource when winching.

Sound, found one with synthetic rope. A mil spec one, around six tonne which is plenty for my needs. Around five hundred sterling on Ebay.

I have to use a big leisure battery on my Jimny otherwise the engine stalls with my TS9500. Has recovered my tractor more than a few times...
