My splicing attempts

Hmm, taking it apart would kind of defeat the object of the exercise but as I just spliced it I know that the 'wobble' is where the core is wrapped in tape inside the cover, on a new rope it would be smoother as it wouldn't bunch up like it has on the old rope pictured.

 

Oh ok excellent, I was wondering if it was a point of potencial failure, clearly not!

just a quick question for all you slicers out there.. when making a pulley saver do you do a complete 16 strand splice for the large eye and just tuck the retrieval end or do a complete splice? Can you remove the core completely?

I remove the core strands and use the cover stands to form a new core.

Had a go at making a pulley saver tonight on the crossover I have got stuck about 3 quarters threw and it won't go no more, anyone got any tips I'm pulling my hair out at the minute !
