My splicing attempts

[High Scale]

Just got some e2e splices tested,

 

got a length of spark tested, it broke at 2400kgs, but only broke because of bend ratio ( broke at bottom of the eye )

 

Armor prus e2e (class 1 splice at one end and class 2 at the other ) class 1 eye splice broke at 1610kgs (class 2 didn't move)

 

Just thought I'd post the results

Yes did the class 1 and 2 on each end of AP just for experimental purposes as the proper splice for the cord is class 2.

 

Im pretty sure that spark is rated to 2800kg... so 2400kg break is pretty good for splice retained almost all the strength in the rope, almost.

 

No worries, will post more results when Ive done some more tests

Cheers, Hadleigh sent me a new AP hitch cord and it inspired me to get some practise in! Bit lazy with the whipping:sneaky2:. Just too much effort lock stitching any closer to the eyes. My hands were sore enough from the splices!

Looking good ben. I'd personally put the whipping closer to the eye though mate!! Haha.

 

I had my eye to eye armour pruss destruction tested today. On a straight pull it broke at...........2.78 tonnes!!! I think once that's doubled up ina hitch it should be safe enough!! Haha. That was a class one double braid splice too.

Impressive mate! Are all the AP ones you do class 1? I heard somewhere AP can be done as a class 1 or 2 but that 2 was a bit stronger..

 

Any ideas where I can get some of my splices destroyed, for peace of mind?

 

I trust them, but I just want to know they are much stronger than a bowline for sure.
