EGR Blanking plate

Anyone fitted one?

 

If so did you take the EGR off and clean it first, also did you have the intake manifold off and clean that at the same time?

 

Or can I just stick the blanking plate in and be done with it?

I was told that I could just pull off the vac pipe and block that off?

 

I'm getting white spoke and some soot from the exhaust. Ive checked all the hoses they seem ok.

 

It could be an injector(s) fault I suppose.

I blanked mine off about 3 years ago Eggs . Did not bother cleaning the EGR as it does not come into play any more . The electronic control is still connected and it may still open and shut but the gasses no longer pass through it coz its blanked off !

Just loosened the two bolts in mine, slid the plate in with the gasket between and tightened. 2 min job mate.

 It could also be a sign of a faulty head gasket. Check your coolant level isn't dropping, no oily surface on the coolant, and no white mayo like substance on the oil cap

What a piece of trickery. Put the blanking plate in earlier and took it for a good thrash. Some smoke to begin with but all cleared after about ten minutes. Didn't notice any difference in performance but I wasn't really expecting any.

 

I'll see what it's like in the morning from a cold start.

I know that is what it is supposed to be but how can allowing exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber to mix with the next charge and then be expelled through the exhaust together with the exhaust from the just fired charge be any cleaner ?

That's why mine are blanked off at de-cated. !!!!!
