We cant get ANY oak sawlogs in cornwall at the mo. Its coming in from europe!!

 

We used to have a large hardwood mill up the road from me, they have closed the mill down, but they are busier than ever, all their oak comes from eastern europe, already milled to any spec they require.

The funny thing is I supply the owner and MD, with firewood

'Cornish Oak' has always been hard to come by in any quality - too much shake. Much of what is sold as Cornish often comes from up-country or abroad and is worked in Cornwall - thus magically becoming ''Cornish''

I was of the understanding that you needed to sawmill timbers on felling or soon after to avoid warp .. at least my carpenter friend tells me. Woodmizer that's the way forward ... a nice portable one

i have 2 large oak trunks for sale. approx 8ft x 2 1/2 ft

 

it was cut from a large dead standing oak in last 7 days.

 

its in sound condition. buyer collects we are situated in east kent.
