If you only need it for a few cuts then 28" on your 70cc saw should be fine with full skip chain, it won't be quick but its an option. Thinking of doing the same on my 365xt then getting a 395 if I really feel the need - which I might use for milling one day...

& yes, Rob D of chainsawbars.co.uk has 3/8th full skip in 0.58 guage

Just bear in mind you will not be able to switch bars easily from stihl to husky if you ever need were as if you run all husky, also some big 300 range huskys run same spare part.

I run a husky 362xp with a 372 pot on it and run a .325 bar/chain at 24 inch pulls it no problem.

For just the odd cut now and again just double cut cheaper by far.

Thanks for the offer, but funds are tight at the moment :) Would you recommend full or half skip? I assume the bigger the skip the easier but the slower the cutting?

I would say faster cutting as it wont bog and clog like a full comp chain .

I'll have to set it up, I use works 372 with an 18 inch bar, anything bigger we have a 385, 390 and a 3120 so I think I just jumped to the conclusion that 70cc isn't good for much past 20 inch.
In my experience the 372xp/xt runs a 24" just fine especially with a full skip chain.
