Seen it before in a completely different industry and is generally when a manufacturer thinks that they can do better than or disrespects the distribution network (The Chanel). Generally the distribution network gets pissed off, the local support and knowledge base for that manufacturer goes in to free fall and it benefits only the competition as the distribution network sell more lucrative products that make them money.

I had similar in my previous job, we used Ebay as a marketing tool, advertising product at the RRP, expecting to sell nothing but helping interest/marketing for the product - that is how it should be done, using online content to drive interest.

Unfortunately, the issues arrive when someone in authority9_9 thinks the company should be selling so lowers the price and your distribution network find you selling kit on ebay at the same price they are purchasing at!!!!

Of course, this may be different....time will tell.

Got the same email today, had a look and they selling a few bits at rrp with a free pair of gloves or whatever thrown in. Can get a better deal from a dealer so can't see many people bothering

That's how I saw it when I read the email.
