Blow back through the lines to the tank with a compressor, often get a build up of crap round the fuel pick up in the tank

Forst hav a lil inline filter near the tank, behind chassis rail  , often missed , fr £2 quid , pop one on too , K

If you can call in a plant hire place and see if they have any double size in line filters often fitted to hire machines to last longer from risk of filling from mucky cans

I, occasionally, have the same issue. Runs fine but when you throttle off it’ll play up, like fuel starvation, so intermittent that I’m loathe to start cracking injectors or taking pipes off.

I know it's a battle but the state of some of the cans I've seen people use over the years are just amazing, thing I find most annoying is getting people to clean the dust and chip off the top of cans before poring it into the tank along with the fuel!

Sorry I've been off for a while as the app isn't working o my phone at the moment and I'm still getting used to the site layout on the net (not a dig just slow when it comes to tech).

 I'm going to phone first tomorrow and see what they say the fuel filter should have been changed at the last service (400h) but if not I'll order one and change it over at the end of the week.

 The Jerry-can I use is near new and is always topped up and never left empty for more then a day, so I doubt its rusty crap getting through, plus I hardly ever use Reddev as I don't have storage for it.

 Any idea's on the feed roller speed control not working? my guess would be low hydraulic fluid but not 100%.

Yeah I know what you mean but it's becoming more and more of a regular occurrence and I don't what to keep hammering the throttle first thing on these colder mornings.

Not saying it is this but seen it on a few chippers or mowers in the past when the fuel tank is lower than the engine and the fuel in the line drains back to the tank over a period of time. You go to start it say the next morning, fires up briefly (from the fuel sat in the injector pump) then cuts out as the fuel lines full of air. On second time of cranking fuel starts getting back up to the injector pump and away it’ll go all day if not stopped for a long period of time. 

 

Couple of checks you can do for this,

if it has an electric inline fuel pump let it tick away for a minute before starting first time or pump the manual lever pump on the side of the injector pump a good 50 times with an injector pipe cracked/ bleed screw open. If it doesn’t cut out on first start you can fit a one way inline fuel valve, they are a couple of quid online and just fit it on the rubber feed pipe near the engine.
