Fixing an old Villager woodburner

Yes, it does have a round hotplate?? (Is it?) on the top, but, it doesn't look like it is removeable. . ..  . .?

Maybe its just me not knowing what I am doing?

I’d seriously recommend you get a registered stove installer/chimney sweep to look at both the stove and flue before you make any decisions or light a fire!

The top plate has i think 2 or 3 lugs- attached to the stove top- don't try and prise it off or it may crack them off. Needs moving either clockwise ir anti clockwise- not sure. It is ptob also stuck on with sealant and ooss rust and crud. Like the other fella said- fitter will know. Prob suggest a flexi liner up chimney. The villager is a good solid stove.

Not wanting to start a new thread, but after clearing a fallen tree across a local road, I refitted the daughters monster  Clearview stove.

And the flue is "pulling like a train".

Then on the way home at 22:00 to found another bigger tree down across the same road, and then when we got home   a well shredded dog(probably due to a wind/thunder/lightening induced "spat" that got outt hand) that needed to be taken to the  vet. She is still at the vet awaiting some stitching.

So I was clearing the tree after 23:00.

Wot an exciting day!

N.B.

More overgrown bushes than trees thankfully.

If it's the cast iron plate I found those lugs snap off when you try to remove the plate if it's a few years old.

Sorry to hijack the thread but could anyone help identify my Villager burner for me? No data plate, stove came with the house... Any help would be much appreciated!

No- but i have the flat top version.
