New harness time

I've become a bit disenchanted with my trusty old Petzl Sequoia lately because of the hideous design of the adjustable buckles, which now basically don't adjust.

This is more important now it's layers on, layers off weather.

 

I've washed them, lubed them, fricked around with them for hours and they have become a nightmare, especially the leg loops.

 

I love the lightness and minimalism of the Sequoia, but want one with decent buckles! Are the buckles on the new generation Sequoia any better?

 

I always want buckles that don't readjust themselves every climb like my old Komets used to.

 

I'm not interested in the TM or new Simarghu, they are far too bulky for my snake-like style. Great harnesses, just not for me.

 

Any advice welcome. Preferably from climbers.

I tried the stein vaga on a couple of weeks ago,didnt climb in it just hung off a low branch and rolled from side to side in it.

Quite minimalist in design and felt comfy enough although i couldnt recommend it mark as i havent used one in anger...

I ll watch this thread with interest as im piss sick of pulling up my tm all the time

About 700 grams and passed for tree work , sport climbing and industrial work.
A trip to shop would be the best bet.
Or get three or four harnesses delivered and keep the best one ( for you that is ).
Or go tactical with this one.

The buckles on the Skylotec look a bit pony, and the bridge ring looks like it could move depending on how tight the waist belt was?

 

I like the ISC buckles on the Tree Tribe, that looks interesting, although I'd definitely lose it!

 

I'd always try before I buy unless I go Sequoia again.

Ive has a few different harnesses. From what you say Mark, I think you would like the Vega. Similar in a lot of ways to the sequoia without the buckle issues.
A comfy no nonsense harness.

I like the look of the tree core. Might be worth a try for my next harness.

I love the tree motion, mainly for its customisability. Being able to have my silky clipped to my leg loop is the main benefit for me. I have the opposite problem with adjusting buckles. Getting the tm ones to do anything is an effort!

Seems a shame with so many offerings to stick with the same but of kit all the time.

Mine won't adjust mate, the waist is set too slack for me, and it wouldn't shift in the pishing rain on Saturday.

 

The Sequoia is great apart from the crappy buckles, and the new ones look similar. I remember Adam Bourne really rated the Tree Core.

 

Why don't you buy one then drive down so I can try it?

 

The Austria is meant to be a good harness Stihlmad, but those side-D's must have been designed for Stevie Wonder.

 

I'd be knocking stuff off the shelves when I wore it down to the shop.
