Well, I looked up the engine used and it's power curve info. 

It uses .1422 American pounds of fuel per hp hour.

That is just over 8 litres per hour.

I used an online converter.

Given a Honda 23hp uses around 4 maybe it's not so far out...?

Mind you, I'm fairly pants at this kind of math...

What's your actual fuel spend per week/day whatever on red diesel? Would petrol make a massive swing?
