Well, I looked up the engine used and it's power curve info. 

It uses .1422 American pounds of fuel per hp hour.

That is just over 8 litres per hour.

I used an online converter.

Given a Honda 23hp uses around 4 maybe it's not so far out...?

Mind you, I'm fairly pants at this kind of math...

Why would you want a petrol chipper with that capacities, Petrol at mo is £1.15-£1.18 a litre and gas oil is 38p-45p a litre.

Where is red at 38 p at the minute? I bought some last week at 47p for 2000 litres

Red here is around 80 cents for the 'superiour' quality.

What's your actual fuel spend per week/day whatever on red diesel? Would petrol make a massive swing?

That’s from a dealer actually the forst is the same price

The yanks use a lot of bigger petrol engines in their chippers, I get the impression there's a lot more idling (of engines) and stacking up of brush as opposed to running machines balls out all day.

 

Fuel is cheaper of course over there.
