Husqvarna T540xp

Anybody experienced this with the Husqvarna 540xp, appears to be a bit of a weak point, and could be costly repair seeing that the whole base would now need to be replaced....?!

Yep, common fault with mark 1's.  I assume yours is a mark 1?

I have one in the same condition that I must get sent over to spud to be repaired at some point.

I would Araldite that and reinforce it with a riveted aluminium plate.

Lovely powerful saw, but a bit fragile.

Looks like you put the upgraded spring on there? Prob not the wisest move as the older ones stretched rather than snap the case. When you repair it get the older style back on there

Or get the updated grey belly pan (cylinder cover I think is the correct name ) with the strengthened mount and use the barrel spring . ......Unless it already is a Mk2 saw and you have found another weak point ......

the part you needs is pretty cheap. i replaced the fuel tank on mine and wasn't the worlds worst job if you take photos. The cylinder cover would be the next bit to come off so i reckon a 2 hour job should do it

That looks like the uprated part to me. It does fail if you like dropping the saw down on the strop hard but the part is relatively cheap and fitting, fiddly but 1-2 hours. Around £70 to do.

1-2 hrs!!! You can have that changed in half an hour, 40 mins tops. You don’t have to remove the fuel tank completely. I’ve done hundreds of these you can build the whole saw from the crankcases up in 2hrs.

There's an offer - £25 for 30 mins work and a part price of £17, that makes it £42 and a bargain in my books...rip his arm off at that price. I bow to someone's greater experience and think I had better take a well earned rest
