What do you use to tie off your rigging blocks?

reviving this thread... I find with cow and timber hitches its a bit of a balls to untie it, descend and retie. Does anyone else use a running bowline with a 4-5 ft tail so the block can be quickly retrieved from below and re choked off ? It seems the better way to do it but I assume there's a reason why people don't?

Can't quite imagine that setup.

Timber hitch with the right length dead eye works for me. Can get it nice and snug easy peasy if negative rigging a stem

but then you have to untie it to descend and set it back up again? With a running knot with long tail you can just retrieve the block down to your next cut?

its what I do with my safety line, undo lanyard, fig 8 down to next cut, lanyard around, retrieve safety line to me and redress the prussik then good to go.

Does it not need adjusting as the stem gets wider? Or get snagged ?

Whoopie slings and 24mm split tail with a timber hitch for big stuff. My mate made me up a daisy chain in 24mm tenex...saves a lot of time resetting the block on vertical section rigging

So you can just clip in to the length you need Grunt? That makes almost too much sense....
