Loose chain on Husky 357 xp

Can anyone help please?

 

The chain on my Husky 357 XP keeps working loose after a few minutes. Any Ideas or solutions before I put it in for repair.

Is it oiling?

When tightening the chain, do you force the end of the bar upwards or pre tension the chain? 

If you don't, you can get this sort of issue!

apparently they dont even teach this method now.  I have spoken to a few young lads fresh out of college recently who thought i was talking crap when I told them to do this.

So they don't worry about the play in the bar slot anymore ? Setting the bar to snug up on the studs in one direction (doing down cuts seems the common choice ) takes away some need to go stupidly tight on the bar nuts . Do you know what there being told is "The right way" these days then Steve

I put my left forearm on the top carry handle and pull up on the chain whilst tightening the bar nuts. I noticed that you needed to do this to stop the chain becoming loose in first cut. 

Didn't get taught it, just did it as an obvious technique!

Just tighten without touching the bar I guess

My way is tighten bar nuts finger tight , hold saw by the back handle only and let the bar tip swing down onto a stump adjust and tighten whilst the bar tip is still resting on the stump .

Finally decided to take it all to bits only to find that the chain and bar adjuster had snapped Hence it was tight on start up but the vibration must have shook the broken piece which caused it to loosen. 6 quid fix!!
