Got a 3120 I got at apf last year that's done maybe 2 hours cutting tops.

Snapped a piston stop and had to remove piston and pot but no damage to bore or base gasket.

Saws starts and runs fine from cold but once up to temp won't start, either with or without choke it pops but dies immediately.

It's getting fuel and spark and my dealer reckons it may be inlet side damage to the pot but surely not on a new saw??

Sounds like the classic low comp symptom . Once up to temp clearances open up and there is not enough compression to support combustion .

Fast idle? Only has a choke no auto tune on it

Should have a fast idle.

Pull choke out and push it back in, without pressing throttle it will be at fast idle with throttle butterfly held partially open, if you press trigger now it releases throttle to go back to low idle

Ah I see. Have tried it all which ways I can think of.

Even had a few buddy's try using it and they say the same about starting it. Guess it's back into the dealer again tomorrow with it

There is no part throttle on the carb, it has a button on the handle to gain part throttle, this can be adjusted to increse the fast idle, there is a screw on the throttle shaft l/h side, cant imagine it needs a new cylinder and piston unless there was some damage to the rings, the cylinder is used on the K1250/1260 so is not as expensive compared to other models.

But surely this should be setup fine or an easy fix for a dealer if that's all it is?
