Is lime wood any good?

 

pollarded a large lime over a year ago, kept the wood and found it to burn well on me open fire mixed with some harder stuff, good year or two to dry tho as very wet! :thumbup1:

moisture content, simples. my dad burnt pop for a winter, burned lovely, but it was well seasones and as dry as a bone. elm is fine too, just stack it till its dry. get it split nice and small david and you will be toasting your tootsies in a couple of years mate

thats all we used to with the out break ded ,home from school strait on the log pile with an old ellwell 7lb axe, remember working @ british steel @ redcar for months felling them & building massive fires ,stipping bark off to move it of site :thumbdown:

I am having a test tonight. I felled a dead Elm today cut it into 10 inch logs split with an axe and it is on the fire now wow the whole fire is aglow it is red hot:thumbup: I think i will bring some home every night

yes, but contrary to the above, i find it dries quite quick, even in the winter and burns a treat

 

elm is v.good wood but does need time to dry

 

split oak, elm, leylandii in early spring, and ash and lime are the last to split as they dry quicker......in time you'll learn my young padawan:thumbup1:
