When I started I had my own toecap work boots and some trousers. I got lent some chainsaw chaps and boot toppers that got left at the yard of an evening.

That'll mitigate the loss of PPE cost if they leave.

Stihl and husky do ground helmets at £25 so it's not too painful to lose unless you're getting though a lot of staff.

Or buy the kit on the understanding it's kept in lockable lockers at the yard, of they leave bolt crop the padlock and you still have the kit

But what use would it be to the boss if the ppe didn't fit the next employee, if the employee would wear used ppe.

Could a company write into their company contract: If an employee leaves in a certain amount of time they would have to pay a percentage of the cost, working on a sliding scale the longer the employee stayed?

Or would that be a breach of human writes that the company directors could be sent to jail for life, for?
