10 tonne bearing press ?

I could do with a bearing press myself, nearside wheel bearing has gone on my transit pickup, been annoying me for a month or so now.. got the new bearing just need to get some enthusiasm to set about on the job..

Get one of those cans of air used by people that tinker with delicate electronics etc, hold it upside down and spray the shaft (wear gloves) it'll cool it down to -40 C or so as the propellant evaporates.

 

The to get the bearing hot safely, wrap it in a wet (but not dripping) cloth and stick it in the microwave. It'll heat the water before any funky stuff happens with the microwave-metal thing. Also it means the temperature of the bearing will not exceed 100C so it won't damage any seals, proper bearing heaters heat to about 110C.

 

With the shaft cold and the bearing hot it'll go on a lot easier!
